Advancing Africa’s Green Future: Seminar on Renewable Energy and Energy Transition in Africa

On 18th July 2024, the Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies and the University of Ghana Climate Change and Sustainability Students Association, in partnership with the Centre for Advanced and Applied Research (CAAR SCHOLARS), hosted a significant seminar in collaboration with 350 Ghana on the theme: “Renewable Energy and Energy Transition in Africa."
The seminar brought together students, researchers, climate advocates, and sustainability enthusiasts to engage in critical conversations on Africa’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy systems. Held within the academic environment of the University of Ghana, the event created an important platform for knowledge sharing and policy dialogue on renewable energy development across the continent.
The program commenced with an inaugural address that emphasized the urgent need for renewable energy adoption in the face of escalating global climate challenges. Speakers highlighted the devastating impacts of climate change on African economies and communities, stressing the importance of reducing dependence on fossil fuels while investing in sustainable and inclusive energy alternatives.
